Not Moving To Portland, the first release from the new album by John Roderick (The Long Winters), was recorded at Clatter & Din in Seattle and features Kathleen Edwards. The video tells a very relatable story about wanderlust and how it can affect a relationship. In an effort to fill some sort of void, the girl spends most of her video redecorating and rearranging their apartment, trying to change anything she can. Each of her attempts are unsuccessful and she quickly moves on to the next thing. In the midst of this chaos we find John, sitting very calm and collected on the couch trying to express that maybe physical change isn’t what they need.
The entire video was shot on three Canon 5D’s and one Canon 7D. In order to create the two different worlds, John was shot at normal speed, the girl was shot 8x faster and the two were brought together in post. The entire set was created in Creature’s very own conference room and propped entirely with secondhand and borrowed items.
