Fantastic job , I felt a lot of different emotions through this film. That's one of the biggest reasons I became a film maker is to make people feel different emotions through out a film and you sir have achieved that. Congratulations!!

sorry for my english. I am a newcomer and only now I see your amazing work. a great technical mastery and much feeling. Some over-expression by the girl but I must say great!

An outstanding feat of creativity. As I was watching the piece, I cannot help but think about all the out of the box thinking that went into putting it together. Great work.

This film never ceases to impress me and to elicit a lump in my throat! The fact that this film can have the best visuals and the best acting AND the best story i've ever seen in a short... is truly remarkable.
my favorite element: the time dial. when he adjusts the age of the tree and the time of day from a dial at his finger-tips... such mastery of stunning visuals!!!!

I posted before, but have to post again. I shared this on facebook, then with my wife. She hates sci-fi techie stuff, but loved this short. Keep doing what you are doing Bruce - we all want to see more!

Many have praised the storytelling and effects and I don't disagree with them, however I'd like to point out that the performances rose to the quality of the production. The actors really helped bring the story to life and I'm sure it was a challenge being an all-virtual set.

This has been out there for a while, but I still really like it. Even if the ending is telegraphed, i nevertheless it moves something primal in me, and I think the aesthetic also is in touch with the inner romantic of male "nerds" worldwide. It is not unlike the muse that fuels song composers, poets, painters.

102 likes and 2 dislikes. It makes me wonder what their work looks like. ;o) I'd like to see it alongside this and let the audience decide who has real vision and craft.
But hey, we all have our opinions, don't we? Art has never been objective, it is the very essence of subjectivity. For me, I love this piece of work. (Yes, I can see that the actress is just a bit too aware that she's playing to a bluescreen but with everything else that this has going for it, I'd say it is one of the strongest independent shorts that I have ever seen.)
And that's my subjective opinion. ;o)
Best regards,
Ronald Lindeboom

Wonderful, Brilliant, Creative and more words that escape me at the moment. To see this was made four years ago leaves me wondering if I have been living under a rock with this stuff.

Wow! I have to say that was really amazing.
All the high end technology it took to make that but it was the human element that made me feel the way I did when watching it. Absolutly beautiful!

I wish I had one-millionth of the talent it took to make this movie. I found it to be stunning. Thank you, Bruce, for a great movie, and to Creative Cow for pointing it out to us.
As a Missourian, I was glad (and surprised) to see we have remarkable talent like this in the Show-Me State.

Like so many mediums, CGI is often impressive for it's pyro-techniques; but like a fancy camera shot: does it help to tell the story? Ah yes, the story. Your software doesn't feel anything, but it can make someone feel something they didn't expect when they pressed play. This short is an excellent example of top graphics skills applied to grab more than the audience's eyes. Storytelling: don't forget! Bruce didn't...ML

that was absolutely beautifull - story telling at its finest. i really loved the computer control concepts throughout the story. excelent visul effects that helped tell the story and didn't take over the plot. well done

I was so afraid the story was going to be: impress the girl with her own world instead of dinner at the Italian place on the corner - and then the story turned out to be perfect, and perfectly integrated with the visuals and the audio. Get an agent, pack your bags and move to the Coast if you're not already there. You have arrived.
Re: The World Builder Movie in 720p by Alex Blair70523169
I enjoyed this short and I am a person who usually dislikes shorts. It was ... complete... I lack the exact industry term but unlike most films like this it had a beginning, middle and end. And when it ended I didn't want any more. As for the technical aspects of it. Hats off. It was a seamless production with some well executed effects. Sorry, I dwelled on the story, but take it as a compliment to the effects that they delivered the story so well I was able to become immersed in it.
I would give this production 5stars out of 5.
I would love to see more from these guys.

That is one fantastic movie. Effects were great and they added to the story instead of the normal get in the way. Music, acting and cinematography all top notch.

There is a god. Well, that is what my first impression was. Then I saw the man and woman coming together to seed the world. Just as I was expecting the seeds from the flower to propagate.
Beautifully done. Must have been thousands of hours involved. Great job.

"Like" just does not seem right, How about "Love". This was an amazing 3d motion graphics work of art. The ending was something I did not expect but made perfect sense and completed this beautiful piece with elegance and emotion.
Thank You for sharing this inspiration piece!
Re: The World Builder Movie in 720p by Peter Spowart70529114
I found this quite astonishing and I liked that it had a story. I felt that the music was melancholic all through and to my mind could have varied more when the girl was obviously delighted with her surroundings. Apart from that I felt it was technically perfect, well done!

Re: The World Builder Movie in 720p by Jason Bradford70538954
An amazing display of technical and emotional beauty. I saw only one less than perfect element: the green screen keying could have been tweaked some more, but it was still a visually stunning film. Thank you.

What an amazing film. The trouble is, it's so good I'm going to chuck all my cameras and computers in the skip... I'll never produce anything that good!

Fantastically inspiring. Jean Baudrillard would have had a field day analysing the heck out of this! Where's the file so I can download the skills into my brain please haha?!?
Re: The World Builder Movie in 720p by Barry Willcock70553586
I agree with Paul - this is an example of superb storytelling. The technical effects are outstanding, but they are made to serve the presentation of the idea, and the theme never becomes subservient to the effects.
