We specialize in digital film restoration in order to protect, improve and preserve invaluable cultural and artistic heritage. The goal is to achive the quality of today's international standards in the entertaiment industry for movies that in some cases have 50 years or more.
CGK is an alternative to the expensive costs of the major companies to revitalize aged materials and bring back their original aesthetic, color and sound to make them look as a new one in order to make new sells and new business.
Our methodology consist in digitalize / scan 35mm film to 4K or 2K resolutions, work with film-to-tape video transfers or handle with the latest file formats to bring a complete post-production range of services. These processes are entirely handmade by a talented team of people that has over 15 years of experience working with worldwide and recognized directors and producers and for major distributors, exhibitors, broadcasters, film institutes, fundations, universities and cinematheques.
CGK has specialized in manual and automatic restoration in a non-destructive workflow specifically designed to achive the best quality posible for every project. We repair all the serious film problems like dirt, dust, scratches, vertical lines, drops, warps, tears, stabilize, flicker, noise, grain, channel align or missed frames without affecting the original source material. We also recreate optical titles and credit sequences among other visual effects with the lastest compositing tools.
Simultaneously in order to recover the original look we procede to a color grading and correction using advanced tools for Digital Intermediate as primary and secondary dosification to enhance, version and recreate the aesthetic decisions regarding each film's original directors, producers and photographers.
Regarding the sound we have to apply the same care as the image whether to resample digitized material or digitalize old material stored in analog formats. Common problems such as excessive presence of noise, clicks, saturation, unbalanced mixes or out-of-phase will be restored to enhace mono mixes to upmix them in stereo, stereo mixes to upmix them in 5.1 surround with real center or Music & Effects mixes.
CGK also specialized in Multi-Format Mastering for Digital Theatre Exhibition (DCI), digital delivery and media content in any format (DATA / HD / SD), any frame rate (23.976 fps / 24 fps / 25 fps / 29.97 fps / and +), aspect format (16:9 Anamorphic / 4:3 Letterbox / 4:3 Pan & Scan / and +), film aspect (2.35:1 / 1.85:1 / 1.78:1 / 1.33:1 / and +) or size (4K / 2K / HD / SD / web / mobile / and +) for TV broadcasting, DCP for digital cinema projections, film recording, DVD / Blu-Ray encoding, web streaming or even mobile devices.
