This is a 30 sec spot for Steve Hall Jewelers in Abilene, Texas. Shot on a Canon GL2, edited in Final Cut Pro. Music was mixed by me using Apple loops, etc.
First commercial I have done.

Hi Tim....

Sorry for such a long delay in responding to your observations, and thanks so much for the comment on the jewelry commercial. I'm aware of the 'no sound' probelem on that upload, and am stymied as to why. I encoded it like I do my YouTube videos....and they do OK. The sound is AAC, but perhaps it needs to be Linear PCM or something else.

My editing knowledge has been gained through self instruction alone, so I have no technical skills gained from any formal education. In essence, I probably don't know what I'm doing! Ha! There's still a lot of missing pieces to the editing puzzle as far as I'm concerned - and I have to search for answers all the time.

I use to be a news camera man back in the 80's when computer editing did not exist. Since then, things have changed dramatically you would agree. But as far as my jewelry commercial goes, I may just encode it again then upload to see if that changes anything.

BTW, my client is a very, very hi-end jewelry designer, and only services an extremely limited customer data base. That's a commercial that he runs only at Christmas time, and does not push anything else other than his custom work. But your observations and suggestions are well taken.
Thanks again Tim, and hopefully I can get the sound to work. The audio was a mixed instrument background I created with a keyboard & Garage Band. I'll let you know when I get it to work....
Any criticism is always welcome!

Best regards,

Jonny Cates

Hey, just so you know, for the entire video after the 1kHz test tone, there is no audio. May want to check into that.

While I'm at it, just a little feedback about your video... The quality was good, the movement was subdued and tasteful, not overdone. You may want to consider adding a bit of variety of subject thought. The whole video was a showcase of two pieces of jewelry. I'd like to see close-ups more of the client's variety, personally.

Well done for your first commercial! Let me know when i can hear the audio too!
